And this book needs some serious editing. Usually I can look by editing problems, but this was bad. Characters' names being misspelled, paragraphs that were repeated, etc.

Mehhh. This book was quite funny. But I was disappointed in the ending. It just kind of concluded. I detest it when the main graphic symbol and her beloved interest don't resolve their "issues" until the last few pages. I demand more closure than that. And this book needs some serious editing. Nosotros meet Mina in the get-go of the volume she is working on her PH.D and only trying to get through each twenty-four hours without tripping over her own feet. To top things off she receives a hymeneals invitation to her ex Lucas and high school friends wedding in Republic of costa rica. Incidentally Mina's dream wedding, but Lucas isn't marrying Mina he'due south marrying someone else. Mina is yet in dearest with Lucas and has no intention of attention the joyous matter. Then he shows upwardly, Ben who is Lucas' best friend and the guy in high schoolhouse who annoyed her to no end. He has a proposition for Mina, he will assist her interruption up the wedding and all she has to do is accept. Ben thinks Lucas is making a huge mistake and is even willing to pretend he is in a relationship with Mina to show Lucas that Mina won't be waiting in the wings any more. Mina and Ben brainstorm their ridiculous pairing and even their friends wonder if it's for existent. But could these 2 possibly fall for each other while Mina is trying to win dorsum her first and but love?
Yes, I fell in love with Ben he was everything that I loved and notwithstanding everything I was afraid of at the aforementioned time. He was smart but the depth of his personality was i I was instantly addicted to. Mina wasn't your typical woman she loved and lost. Then she was given this opportunity and although she was pushed into it she had the support from her closest friends. What true friend wouldn't tell yous to surrender on true love? Lucas was hopelessly in love with Mina, just sometimes things just don't work out similar nosotros plan. This may audio like a beloved triangle but was far from ane. It was a reunion of the past. One full of revelations and new ancestry.
Best part of this book was the dialogue between these friends. They all knew each other and so well. They could relive the past and be close over again. The shenanigans were beyond hilarious and I was a bit envious of all their fun. Honestly if Mina was going to embark on a do or die situation she was definitely surrounded past the perfect people.
I will positively recommend this volume. This book gave me everything that I was looking for so much more. I wasn't sure if Emily was going to break my heart in the end or build it upwards. It was far from predictable. A smart, fun, enjoyable, and highly emotional book that you volition sure to autumn in love with. I can't wait to read more from this author and volition surely be reading this again.

Of grade things aren't that simple and Ben and Mina's mission to demolition Luke and Ella'due south wedding doesn't quite go to plan. Que dyspeptic Bridesmaids, potentially drowning Brides, lots of romance and fights in canoes.
I loved the storyline for Hither for the Cake. It grabbed me correct away; later all who hasn't been idly walking through life when suddenly something makes y'all stop and inquire yourself 'what if?' The storyline itself lived upwardly to all of my expectations simply there was so much more to this story than I anticipated. Firstly, I expected a fleck of humour, purely based on the storyline, but this story was so, and so much more hilarious than imagined. It is guaranteed to accept you laughing out loud (so beware if reading in a public place!) There are one or two especially comical scenes, one of my favourites being when the girls went canoeing. The dialogue is packed full of witty 1 liners too.
My favourite thing nearly Here for the Block would take to be the characters. I adored Mina, she made for a nifty central character and had and then much more to her than meets the center. I also loved her best friend, Josie. Non afraid to say it how it is Josie definitely had some of the best of those witty ane liners! Friendship is a prominent theme in this novel and the human relationship between Mina, Josie and Luke's sister, Salma, demonstrates this so well. Theirs is ane friendship group I would definitely similar to be a part of, and it's touching how loyal and protective they are of one another. They go up to some pretty exciting shenanigans too.
Ella and her cronies are the perfect characters you lot'll dear to hate and I establish Ben to be a really intriguing character. I couldn't help but like him, even though I sometimes felt that I shouldn't. He'south full of charisma and personality and there'south such great banter between him and Mina. I couldn't make my mind upwardly about Luke nonetheless and I didn't actually warm to him. I just institute myself frustrated and disbelieving of his determination and behaviour on Mina and Ben'south behalf.
The other aspect of this story I really enjoyed was that you can never be quite sure which direction information technology'southward going in. But when y'all think y'all know what'southward going to happen...smash...everything's up in the air again. It kept me guessing which I really liked and added to my eagerness to race through to the end to see how things would work out.
This is a really smart, warm and witty story. At times information technology's emotional, engaging, honest and completely hilarious. Brilliantly written with a fabulous cast of characters, Here for the Cake is the perfect escapist read, guaranteed to put a smiling on your face up. ...more than
Here For The Block was just what the doctor ordered! A deliciously fun, heady and hilarious read with fantastic characters and a fabled and conniving storyline. I absolutely loved information technology!

Review: Here For The Cake by Emily PouleHere For The Cake was just what the dr. ordered! A deliciously fun, exciting and hilarious read with fantastic characters and a fabulous and conniving storyline. I absolutely loved it!
Mina Joseph is an bookish, studying and assisting at Boston University. Since the tragic dumping by the love of her life, Luke, who is now getting married to 1 of her "friends from high schoolhouse", mega bitch Ella, in Mina's dream location, Republic of costa rica; Mina has buried her head in her report, forever pining over him, never existence able to let go.
When an invitation to the wedding arrives, Mina dismisses it. But when Luke's all-time friend Ben drops past and offers her a plane ticket and spending money for a makeover in the hopes of breaking upwardly the wedding ceremony, past showing Luke what he allow become, Mina merely needs a piddling encouragement to hold to go along. If worst comes to worst she gets a free holiday with her 2 besties, Josie and Salma and a hot new await and wardrobe.
What happens adjacent is an unbelievably first-class story of deceit, romance, hope and longing, with a truck load of frivolous fun, laughter and a bloody awesome ending.
What a cast of characters! I think I've fallen in love with them all! Especially Mina, Josie & Ben.
Mina isn't like most leading ladies. She isn't a dickhead who makes ridiculously stupid mistakes that you but want to slap her for; she doesn't play the victim, she is a strong admirable woman who merely needs closure then she can move on with her life. Bestie #i Josie, is an absolute firecracker and someone I'd want in my corner! The stuff that comes out of her rima oris had me literally laughing out loud, to the betoken I was worried I was going to wake up my sleeping husband and kids. Just and then freakin' funny!
Bestie #2, Salma (Luke's older sister), was the pacifier of the trio, but she was a little pocket rocket herself, and such a loving and caring friend.
Luke is so mixed up. He clearly has feelings for Josie just is adamant that marrying Ella is the right matter to practise. I merely felt sorry for him a petty scrap.
Ella is a....(I've got to watch my language here) crazy MOLE!!! (the skin growth, non the animal). What a piece of work! She is 1 stuffed-up (encounter how I censored it!) individual! The level to how low she could stoop totally added to the twisted story!
And last but non to the lowest degree, Ben. He'southward a male slut and proud of it! But what a guy! His sense of humor and hubris were merely do damn mannerly! And that wit! He was to dice for!
1 thing I particularly enjoyed was what was going on in the groundwork of this novel; so much detail with all the dingy little side stories of all of the "high society" guests, I only couldn't get enough! The setting was beautifully described, leaving me with a vivid motion picture in my heed.
Here For Cake would take to be the Best "chic lit" volume I've ever read. Information technology is a experience-good volume that all though had some sad parts, was a fantastically uplifting story. Excellent writing Ms. Poule! I tin can't wait to read more of your work!
Hither for the Cake is one of those books that you discover and are BLOWN away with how funny, witty, emotional and just wonderful it is. When I was asked to review this book for Emily Poule I knew I would savour this story but every bit it turns out I LOVED this story! I could non stop reading this, I institute myself squeezing in a few pages or just a chapter waiting in lines, at carpool and while my kids were eating breakfast. Emily Poule took romantic comedy and knocked it out of the park!
Hither for the Block was funny, in a fantastic snarky/witty humor that had me waiting to encounter what else would come out of these characters mouths! I actually choked on my drink and laughed out loud more than once. I fell in honey with the writing style and all the crazy characters in this volume correct off the bat. Emily Poule's flow, pacing and comedic timing were a perfect especially when combined with this grand-gesture scheme that Ben and Mina are about to commence on.
What made this book was the characters! It starts off simple; Ben sweet talking Mina to come up to Costa Rica and interruption up his all-time friends wedding/her ex-young man's wedding simply one time this ball gets rolling the madcap adventures begin and the addition of a scattering of astonishing characters are added to the mix and we get Hither for the Cake. Silly me thought this book would be a predictable story with a chip of humor and I was wrong! Just when you recall something is going in one management, Emily Poule surprises u.s.a. and add new layers to the story! Here for the Cake is a book that yous demand to read! Emily Poule pulled off a book that is not only funny but emotion-envoking, it is about friendship, learning to permit go and discovering that sometimes the only thing you lot need to make y'all happy is to accept who you are and realize that it is OK to want/need more from your life.
I tin can't say enough nearly this book! I tin can't wait to meet what Emily Poule writes next! I really hope it is some other story with some of the characters from Hither for the Cake!
If you lot are in the mood for something funny, kind of crazy with a bandage of characters that you lot can't help but fall in love with, then Hither for the Cake is the perfect book for you! Emily Poule is an author to keep and centre on, I have a feeling we will be hearing well-nigh her a lot in the future!

this one is already in my fave book!
it was fun just in that location was more than like emotional, open minded, loss, standing up and love.
the greatest honey in here was giving everything for someone. only that greatest love was the one that could put down a man.
There was as well about choice, different kind of dear. what lead you. what make you feel worth information technology and being the whole universe vs being in beloved a love that hurt. than came, figure when to let go, why and what went wrong when information technology was also v mouthful of block!!

it was fun but there was more like emotional, open minded, loss, standing upward and love.
the greatest love in hither was giving everything for someone. but that greatest love was the one that could put downward a homo.
There was also about selection, different kind of love. what lead you. what make you feel worth information technology and being the whole universe vs being in beloved a dear that injure. than came, figure when to permit go, why and what went wrong when it was too late because of the choices you made.
it was a battle only no one won only only accept the choice and understood. it was an experience for both party. ane to embrace, being a human, seeing the kind of love you could give to a woman that make you a better human being to have goal anf existence challenge and in the other manus fighting for what you lot want, no pride for feeling and understand loved and love.
I felt distressing, angry, understanding and despised toward Luke. I understood his betoken, he actually wanted. he know what he left behind, the cede. simply what he got was the universe because someone was willing to give him everything include love with no end. and then that something no anyone could accept and he knew how lucky and felt toward Ella. so in the cease the choice.
Equally for the others characters, they made the book, the story.
what a great story with and then much depht and as well made me laugh. ...more than

The title of this book makes you thing it will be another story well-nigh a happy helpmate dealing with the woes before the nuptials. Which this volume is far from! This is a story about a wonderful amazing unique daughter, a nerdy lost in her books girl who doesn't know how to move on past her loftier schoolhouse young man who's wedding invitation to her best friend shows up to remind her she'due south really not over him. That beginning sounds like a silly romance story gone wrong. Only honestly throughout the story in that location is a depth that is ofttimes hidden under the surface. Which makes this a unique and lovable story.
I enjoyed each and every character in the story. Some like Ella and Cynthia and the other snotty ladies I loved to hate, but I also could not go enough of Mina and Josie and Shelma and even Simon and Ben. Truly each grapheme was developed and very existent to me.
The story itself isn't what I found unique. Daughter gets dumped past high school young man ends up with the one of her supposed best friends and of course the crawly twist with the exes best friend...that I accept read many times. Only the individuals in the story is what makes this one so good!
Throughout the book I hoped for a sure ending to the story and strangely changed my heed about half way through. I admittedly loved the catastrophe! I loved watching the characters grow and modify throughout this story.

HERE FOR THE CAKE is a book that has every emotion in it and on almost every page! It was well-written and entertaining. I tin't retrieve when I've been and then entertained with one book. The book begins with a elementary plot and so takes off in a romantic comedy that leaves the reader laughing and crying and auspicious the characters on with every folio. HERE FOR THE Cake boasts an unpredictable plot and I loved that! You lot have three friends who accept fabricated it their life'south appetite - at to the lowest degree for a weekend - to salve a friend from making the biggest mistake of his life. What happens is a calendar week in a tropical paradise spent running from love, to dear, and around love! I absolutely loved Salma and Josie and who wouldn't love to have them as best friends.
The characters are funny and outspoken - which I adored. One of the funniest adventures of the week was a scavenger hunt to discover the bride, an take a chance that brings out the worst and the best in all of the characters as well equally a whole lot of truth. This is a great beach read or a Dominicus afternoon on the swing read. I would love to see this volume made into a moving picture.
Readers are guaranteed to laugh and weep in a thing of moments. i am giving Hither FOR THE CAKE v plus stars.

In that location are likewise plenty of steamy scenes that made me swoon. The leading man is that interesting combination of mannerly and protective, with just a side of *hole thrown in to keep things unpredictable. The 2 played off each other'southward wittiness perfectly. I was hooked once he entered the picture.
This was a bang-up read and I'm excited to see what comes side by side from Emily!

Great retelling of an old story, of ex going to pause up wedding to become groom for herself. Plenty of LOL parts. Luke was a douche and I wanted so much for him to figure out his self worth, for his and Mina's sake. The devil's in the details though, and Miss Poule leaves no rock unturned. She has thought all the characters through, and their intentions and motivations are fully realized and easily embraced. The writing was not amazing. From one sentence to another I wasn't sure which perspective I was getting.
